Meta Week: Low Cost Green Shadow Pea-Freeze Deck!

Green Shadow´s spot on the Meta has been... Rather down. The only significant ones are Freeze, Bean and Pea decks. Bean decks got a small boost when Mayflower got introduced, but has since slowed down. Today, Pea and Freeze decks seem like the most played in the meta for Green Shadow. Heres a good deck i found incorporating both freeze and pea decks.

Dont worry if you dont have Snapdragon or Espresso. They can be replaced.

This deck has 2 very good ways to win. You either boost Snowdrop with your freezing cards, or boost your peas and defeat the opponent with them. Lets see the cards

X3 Iceberg Lettuce: Being your main freezing tool to boost Snowdrop, you want to use it when Snowdrop is in play, or when a valuable, strong pea plant is about to go down.

X4 Pea Pod: Pea Pod has been a stable in any Pea deck. Here you will use him with The Pod Father to boost him up and take out early game zombies.

X4 Snowdrop: Serving as your 2nd win condition, you will boost him using your Iceberg Lettuces and Snow Peas. You can also use Fertilize.

X4 Torchwood: Helpful in boosting your pea plants to take out big health threats, or to simply protect another plant.

X1 Black Eyed Pea: Really useful 2 sun Pea which can deny the Zombie Hero from using valuable tricks. You can replace Espresso Fiesta and Snapdragon for 2 more of these if you have them.

X3 Fire Peashooter: Being a really powerful Pea plant, it can be used as an attacker or as a big removal card to take out big threats if boosted with Torchwood, The Pod Father or Fertilize.

X4 Snow Pea: Your other card to freeze and give Snowdrop a boost. Its better to boost it with The Pod Father so it can survive and be a threat itself as well.

X1 Sow Magic Beans: The extra card draw that you get from these is useful, and by themselves are great to defeat strong zombies. You can replace it with another BEP, Fire Peashooter or Iceberg Lettuce if you want to.

X3 Fertilize: Fertilize will be useful to boost any plant if needed, either to let it survive or take out a threat on the board.

X3 Flourish: Will be used to draw and cycle our deck with ease.

X4 Repeater: Repeater is the strongest Pea plant of all in this deck. Boost it with The Pod Father or Fertilize to defeat almost everything!

X4 The Pod Father: Your main booster to boost all of your pea cards to defeat almost anything. Protect it well as it will pay off in the late game.

X1 Snapdragon: Snapdragon is used to clear any small zombie that your opponent placed. Its not necessarily needed and can be replaced.

X1 Espresso Fiesta: Your big finisher. Once again it can be replaced.

Your goal with this deck is to either boost your peas, or freeze and boost Snowdrop. Winter Squash or Black Eyed Pea are great replacements for the Super-Rares mentioned before, alongside Sow Magic Beans. One big problem is Rocket Science. If you are fighting against a Brainy Hero, boost your plants efficiently to make your opponent think of what to take out.

Thats the deck! There are different decks for Green Shadow, but this is the best i could find.

Stay tuned, because our next hero really likes gravestones and being sneaky to the plants!

Announcement: PvZH Central´s 1st ever Meta Week!

Everyone is ready and set!
With every competitive game, there is always the meta, which is what is defined as a powerful strategy or combination of things, which are strong if used correctly.

So why not dedicate an entire week to them?

This week we will see some of the more powerful decks for every hero in the game. I can guarantee that this wont stay as relevant in the meta any time in the future, as Season 2 comes soon, which contains its own set of powerful cards which can create a new meta.

With that said, let us begin!

Reddit/Community: Help create a deck building guide!

Today, a fellow reddit user by the name of NetTheMan created a post to help make a deck building guide. Heres what he said:

"I'm going to attempt to build a guide for building decks, to give to people in Twitch chats, Reddit posts and anything between and more! Comment you best tip! Give your best advice! When should and shouldn't you craft cards? Anything you feel can be positive to the building of decks, give! I'll credit you, unless you don't want to be credited, then just say so. If two comments contain the same advice, the credit will go to the first commented. No guaranteed date when the doc will be available, but hopefully it'll be ready in less than a week."

Heres one of my favorite answers so far. Its a really helpful advice :)

"Here what I had before I didn't have time to go on and finish, you could probably just fill in the blanks and get a good doc. Knock yourself out.

Step One: Establishing Your Core/Win-Con
Your goal, in any CCG is to win, whether you want to win through control, aggro, or out-tempo your opponent. You can’t win by only responding to the other person’s threats – you have to push your own goal and get YOUR threats across.
The first thing you need to do is to establish a win-con, these can range from a specific card to a broader strategy. Think about it as you writing the slogan for the pre-built decks. More experienced deck-builders have a lot of flexibility, but for more beginner deck-builders, it is advisable to have a “core” to base your deck around. /u/PvZTryHard’s Valk OTK for example has a core of Valkyrie and Teleport.
The requirements for a core are:
  • A maximum of 3 different cards
  • Each card should warrant at least three copies
  • Your core combo should be realistic
  • Your core should be able to win you the game
  • The cards should have strong synergy
These are nice guidelines for you to follow. Although some of them are debatable, if you are not comfortable with deck-building you should generally adhere to these rules.
Here are some examples of good cores and why:
*Garg Feast: Garg feast should be able to win you the game or put you in a winning position. It’s a solid win con that you can work towards (stall until t12 then feast them) * Grapes of Wrath + Dandy Lion King: This combo does 20 damage, which is enough to win you the game given some lucky block meter rolls. Just like Feast, this core contains a solid, workable, win-con. * MuG + Pogo + Electrician: The three cards have amazing synergy with each other. MuG can re-trigger Pogo’s and Electrician’s amazing when-revealed effects, and Pogo can help MuG land hits on the plant hero. Getting this core off can handily win you game.
Now here are some bad cores:
  • Shroom for Two + Buff Shroom: While this is a good combo, I wouldn’t consider this a good core to base you deck around because that means other cards will be supporting this “core”. It’s much better to use shroom42 and buff-shroom as supporting cards for another “winnable” core (Such as Pineclone)
  • MuG + Zombot: Far too unrealistic, you need to wait until turn 9 to start your combo, which isn’t even guaranteed since they might remove it. To really get it off you need to wait until turn 14. (Perhaps when gravestone environment comes out it will become viable)
Do NOT rush this step, if you decide on a good core and you know what you are looking for, the other pieces will fall in place just like arguments in an English Essay. Your core should be reliable, but it doesn’t need to be 100% foolproof. This brings me into the next section: Finding the cards that support your main strategy. But before we get into it lets look at the example:
In this guide, I will be building a core around the combo: Teleport + Zombie King + Coffee Zombie. This is a good core because a) getting it to work can realistically win me the game b) it is a reliable combo that can be achieved consistently c) the two cards have good synergy.
Our win con will be to create an army of knights that are very durable due to their armor, and then frenzy them all up to win the game!
Step Two: Supporting your Win-con
Arguably most win-cons need a lot of support. Trickster decks need a lot of tricks, Zombie King Decks need a lot of small minions to “king”, and Cornucopia decks need a lot of removal.
This is where step two comes in; you have a good goal in getting your core to work now you just need cards to help that happen, or “getting it to work”. Try to look beyond cards have just have random synergy and look for ones that really support and helps your core.
You should only be adding cards that connect to your core – you should NOT be adding cards just because “they are good”. (Good cards will most likely be adding in the next step :D)
Unfortunately there are just too many variable to accurately lay down precisely what you should do in words, so I’ll just go back to my example.
We look back at our win-con and we realize that we don’t have smaller minions and ways of protecting our king after we teleport it in. Naturally we can find some great cards that fit the requirement perfectly:
  • Landscaper: An act as a small body while also weakening the minion in front of the King so that it can survive.
  • Sumo: Small body that can protect the king when they front it with a strong minion
  • Medic: Minion that can be knighted while also being able to heal your king if it gets injured.
  • Beam me up: A body that you can get on the field on if they manage to remove all minions that you can knight.
  • Brain Vender: Minion that you can knight while also helping you ramp up.
Notice how I didn’t include things like Arm Wrestler because it doesn’t fit will with the core. I also didn’t include weed-spray (yet) because it doesn’t help the core.
Step Two and a Half: Making a Backup
Fuck
Step Three: Countering Meta Decks
School
Step Four: Test and Re-vamp"

Deck Friday: Professor Dance-Storm! (Professor Brainstorm Dancing Deck)

So after learning that Professor Brainstorm was one of my X10 heroes (Other being Night Cap), i knew i had to make a useful deck to get those tickets. This is one of them.

I sadly dont have Valkyrie or Teleport, so OTK Valkyrie is out. I dont have Jester nor Teleport, so OTK Jester is off the list. Then i thought.

"Prof. Brainstorm has quite alot of Dancing zombies. How about i make a deck with them?"

Eureka! (No pun intended). I had a deck!

"Never gonna give you up! Never gonna let you down!"
Lets take a in-depth look at this deck!

X4 Unlife Of The Party: With the many zombies that you can get on the board, UOTP works well with this deck. It also benefits from all the dancing synergy.

X4 Aerobics Instructor: She will boost up all of the dancing zombies we have here. The extra strength will help them take out any big threat on the board with ease.

X4 Conga Zombie: Your early game control zombies. These will help in taking out any small minion, even those with 3 HP.

X4 Disco Zombie: Spawning 1 extra zombie, you can use it to take out weak minions, 3 HP plants, or to simply boost UOTP. The backup dancer helps set up Flamenco Zombie too, as if you play it, it will deal 6 damage.

X4 Fun-Dead Raiser: This will help to cycle thru our deck quickly, and keep a card advantage. Generally you should use it if you have nothing much or else to play.

X4 Jester: Not only being a Dancing zombie, it will help in dealing damage quickly to the Plant Hero, and get them guessing on what to use on it. It can also prompt the block if needed.

X3 Rocket Science: Being pretty much a necesity in almost every Brainy deck, it will help in taking down big foes who will deal alot of damage, or to defeat a plant who may cause you alot of trouble.

X4 Drum Major: Having amazing stats and being a Dancing zombie (Surprisingly), it can take down almost all foes in the mid game, and do great damage to the plant hero.

X3 The Chickening: Helpful in removing any weak cards, like Shroom For Two. Its incredible if played on turn 4 with a board almost or completely full of Dancing zombies, and with a Flamenco in your hand, as that will deal 8 DAMAGE.

X4 Flamenco Zombie: Your main damage dealer. Just play it when you have 2 or more Dancing zombies in the board, or else it wont be worth it (unless it wins you the game).

X2 Disco-Tron 3000: These can easily be replaced with another chickening or Rocket Science, but if you have them, they are worth having. They can give +3/+3 to UOTP, and deal the 8 damage with flamenco mentioned before. Its a great card and can be replaced as well, not really affecting the deck much.

With this deck, you are looking to control early on with Conga and Disco Zombie, while building up and setting up for Flamenco Zombie around Turns 5, 6 or 7. It does suffer against aggro and control decks, and can definitely suffer against Amphibious lanes, due to not having anything other than Chickening to counter them.

If Flamenco doesnt work, you can use Aerobics instructor, and build up your Dancing zombies with big damage, while Jester does work by pressuring the Plant heroes block. Use The Chickening and Rocket Science well, and you will win while dancing to victory!

You could say... "Dance Through the Danger"? ;)

Anyways that wraps up this Deck Friday! Thanks for reading! And good luck out in the battlefield!

A small screenshot of the unfinished comic for this new hero. Could it be a new tribe? Another zombie (no one knows if card or hero) called Terra-Former 2000 is found on the background of the cover.

Event Card Analysis: Lily Of The Valley

Lily of the ValleyH
They seem harmless, dont they? Just wait till she gets her buddies buffed!

Lily Of The Valley is an Event-Premium, 2 Sun Cost, 1 attack 3 health Flower plant with no traits, and the ability to give a plant on the Heights +2/+2 when played there.

By herself, shes ok. Being a flower helps in a Chompzilla flower deck, but her stats are very low, but her ability makes it shine (no pun intended on the flower reference :P)

ANY plant will get +2/+2 if played on heights and this is on the field. It gives plants like Wall-Nut, PodFather etc more attack and health to survive and damage, while others like Skyshooter get scary by getting a tremendous +4/+4.

It also pairs greatly with Doubled Mint, letting it survive more and do more damage, as well as making its ability stronger.

Countering it is rather simple, but MUST be done quickly. Rolling Stone and Weed Spray are amazing at this. Damaging tricks also work. Deadly Zombies work great as well if it got boosted by a Grow-Shroom or Fertilize. Rocket Science and Locust Swarm are your best cards to take out any of the cards she boosts.

This card has quite alot of combos, but it isnt something to leave dry on Turn 2, unless theres a really good play next turn, or the Zombie Hero used up his brains. Its a great card and has alot of ways to use it.

It, once again, takes 1200 tickets to get it. Good Luck out there!

Deck Monday: CC "Growing Pains" Deck! (By Yulogy)

GOW can be replaced for another Party Thyme or BEP.
Here we have a really powerful, effective, and crazy deck made by Yulogy! He made a much bigger guide talking about any matchup, counters and a detailed run of the deck, which i will leave at the end of this post. I will simply explain the basics, but he does a WAY better job of explaining it than i do. Anyways, lets begin!

The main deal with this deck is dominating the early game, getting rid of anything strong later, and boosting to apply constant pressure onto your opponent, with a side of finishers at the end. This deck is also very F2P friendly, as the cards are mostly easy to get, with the exception of Grapes Of Wrath, but it can be replaced, although not really recommended.

Lets see the cards now

X3 Party Thyme: Your drawer of cards in this deck. Not as efficient as say Bonk Choy, but works great in synergy with all the other cards, like Re-Peat Moss. Dont play it on Turn 1 however, as it is weak.

X4 Shroom For Two: Using Shrooms is part of the early game pressure in this deck. You want these out on Turn 1 to chip away at the enemys health and take down small, weak threats.

X4 Berry Blast: Your main removal card. You do have Meteor-Strike which is the same but 1 sun cost less, but its recommended to use it when Re-Peat Moss is in the field. Dont do it to Face unless its a win.

X3 Black-Eyed Pea: Great for locking your opponent from using tricks and doing akward plays, which helps the deck greatly.

X4 Buff-Shroom: Used to boost all of your Shroom plants. Its better than Fire-Peashooter here as Buff-Shroom can boost the shrooms here, like Shroom For Two.

X4 Fertilize: Your main booster. You can use it on the best target if your opponent used up all his brains on turn 3. If you have Grow-Shroom on your hand however, use this instead.

X4 Grow Shroom: A weaker Fertilize, but can be used to prompt the block or clean up.

X4 Plant Food: Use it to boost a plant to clean up, or Whipvine to take out a big threat, or even Party thyme for possible clean up, pressure and deck cycling.

X4 Re-Peat Moss: Your main star in the deck. Keeping track of the super powers your opponent has used is key to make it amazing, and it doesnt neccesarily need to be a 1 turn kill move. Theres just alot of ways to use it, and its a great card.

X4 Whipvine: Amazing at charging your block meter by moving weak zombies, making trades, or doing big damage.

X2 Grapes Of Wrath: These are your game finishers. Can take out or trade to a big threat or big zombie, and can win you the game easily. Generally, it should be used as your last resort by the late game.

The point of the deck is controlling early on the board with shrooms and Black Eyed Peas, while hitting hard with Re-Peat Moss, Whipvine and Grapes Of Wrath mid-late game. Getting your super-power, Blazing Bark with Re-Peat Moss will be a high priority, especially if it can win you the game.

Never begin with the highest costing card in the Mulligan, and look for a 1 drop. Keep Party Thyme if you get it, and Shroom for Two and Buff-Shroom or Berry Blast and Black Eyed Peas, along with something to boost a plant.

And thats the deck! I highly recommend you check out the extensive, highly detailed guide that the creator, Yulogy, made for the deck.

PvzH Card Of The Week: Toxic Waste Imp

Toxic Waste ImpH
How is he staying balanced like that?!
Toxic Waste Imp is a 2 cost, 2 attack, 2 Health Sneaky Barrel Imp Zombie. It has the Amphibious trait, and its ability gives the Deadly status to all Imp Tribe zombies.

By itself, it isnt really too strong, but can apply preasure in the Aquatic lane if extra damage is needed. Together with other Imps however, it becomes very strong. You can pair it up with ANY imp and it would work great, some better than others of course.

He works better in an Imp deck where you are using a lot of imps to rush your opponent and take out anything in their path, since Deadly automatically defeats a plant if the attack hits, regardless of HP, unless it has armored and doesnt take damage from said armored effect.

It works wonders with Impfinity, as he has the most Imps out of all Zombie Heroes.

To counter it, you can use any damaging trick or superpower to defeat it, but be careful if it is placed in a water lane, as if you dont have any counters, it can easily overwhelm you with all the other Imps that will follow after it.
